The hazel (Corylus avellana) is a plant native to Asia Minor in the family Betulaceae. The ancient Romans were giving the hazelnuts to wish you happiness!
The core is grown in Asia Minor and in many European countries. In our country are mostly produced in Campania, Lazio and Piedmont (Tonda Gentile delle Langhe boasts the IGP). In addition to the Tonda Gentile delle Langhe (much used by the confectionery industry), other well-known varieties are the Tonda Gentile Romana (Lazio), the St. John and Latonda Giffoni (Campania), Hazelnuts Nebrodi and Madonie (Sicily) and the round Calabrese (Calabria).
